Dan Gottshall, a guy from the east coast of the US, plays lead trombone with the NDR Big Band. From 1993 until 2001 he was lead trombonist with the RIAS Big Band in Berlin. Born in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, studied and lived in Baltimore, Maryland. The years in the Baltimore Scene were and remain without a doubt very influential. Still, after so many homes: Pennsylvania, Baltimore, Los Angeles, Cologne, Berlin: Dan sees himself as a child of the universe who has finally landed in Hamburg. In addition to contributing to more than 60 CDs Dan has performed and recorded with artists such as Chaka Khan, Al Jarreau, Lena Horne, Gary Thomas, Albert Mangelsdorff, Chuck Brown, Joao Bosco, Omar Sosa, Charlie Mariano, Peter Herbolzheimer´s RC&B, The Clayton/Hamilton Big Band, Bobby McFerrin, The Funk Brothers, Norma Winstone, Gladys Knight, Pacquito D' Rivera, Kenny Wheeler, etc. etc. etc. dot dot dot.... He is Lead Trombonist with the NDR Big Band in Hamburg, Germany. Dan Gottshall is EXTREMELY humble and feels that biographies are embarrasing.
